Results, v. VA Tech/Pittsburgh

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. ââ’¬” The University of Notre Dame boasted several impressive swims and top finishes in the 3-meter diving event Friday, competing with Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. The Irish are merely 10 points behind the Hokies, who lead 97-87.
“Our girls had excellent concentration and effort tonight,” head coach Mike Litzinger says. “Our divers were simply superb. As a team we competed much better than we have been. Tomorrow will be more of the same, and we need to take our experiences from last week and apply those lessons.”
The Irish started the night strong in the 200 free relay, as the A-team of Catherine Mulquin, Catherine Galletti, Sofia Revilak and Ella Moynihan placed second (1:34.25). Revilak and Galletti went on to finish second and third respectively in the 100 fly, with Revilak logging a 55.63 time and Galletti touching the wall in 55.66.
In the 200 back, freshman Alice Treuth continued her winning ways with a first-place time of 1:58.79. Classmate Kyra Sarazen finished fourth (2:02.01), while Katie Miller came in fifth (2:04.06) and Anna Grainger finished seventh (2:06.38).
In the 100 free, Mulquin (51.37) and Revilak (51.86) combined to finish second and third, with Galletti coming in sixth (52.43).
In the last swimming events of the evening, the Irish earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:43.44) and 800 free relay (7:32.51). Mulquin (26.27), Danielle Margheret (29.07), Galletti (24.95) and Revilak (23.15) swam in the medley race, while Ella Moynihan (1:51.15), Sarazen (1:52.90), Miller (1:54.17) and Elizabeth House (1:54.29) swam in the freestyle relay.
In diving, seniors Lindsey Streepey and Emma Gaboury stole the show and finished first and second in the 3-meter event. Streepey finished with a score of 316.70, while Gaboury scored a 301.75 mark.
