NOTRE DAME, Ind. — For the second straight year and third time in four years the Notre Dame men’s cross country team captured the ACC title, totaling just 32 points on the way to claiming the crown in their own backyard at the University of Notre Dame.
The women’s team totaled 114 points en route to a fifth-place finish.
On the men’s side, three Irish finished in the top-five including runner-up Dylan Jacobs (23:23.0), Danny Kilrea (4th – 23:32.6) and Yared Nugege (23:38.3).
The Irish depth was on full display on Friday as five more Irish men also finished in the top-21 to earn All-ACC accolades in 2021, including Joshua Methner (10th – 23:55.6), Matthew Carmody (11th – 23:56.4), Andrew Alexander (15th – 23:58.4), Jake Renfree (16th – 24:04.2) and Anthony Russo (19th – 24:10.2).
On the women’s side, Maddy Denner impressed with a ninth-place finish (20:33.2) while Olivia Markezich (12th – 20:40.8) also earned All-ACC status. Lauren Bailey (20:58.3) and Erin Strzelecki (21.02.8) notched top-30 finishes at 27th and 30th, respectively.
The Irish women have placed in the top five at the ACC Championships in seven of the past eight seasons.
The NCAA Regionals are set for Friday, November 12 at Evansville, Indiana and the NCAA Championship is slated for Saturday, November 20 in Tallahassee, Florida.
