Two wins would put the Notre Dame men's swimming and diving team's record above .500 for the season.

Irish Prepare For Upcoming Twinbill

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Dual meets against Northwestern and Oakland highlights this weekend’s action for the Notre Dame men’s swimming and team. The Irish (3-4) look to get back into the win column after falling to BIG EAST Conference rival Louisville last Saturday.

The Wildcats will visit Rolfs Aquatic Center on Friday (Jan. 16) at 5:00 p.m. (ET). Live results will be available at UND.com. Notre Dame travels to Oakland one day later to take on the Grizzlies at 2:00 p.m.

“The meet against Louisville was certainly a tough one for us, especially following two weeks on the road after our winter training session in Puerto Rico,” said head coach Tim Welsh. “Now, we are back in a routine and ready to race fast again. Northwestern swam well very early in the year, and they’re in the same position we are. With a 3-3 record and some tough conference meets ahead, this will be a big dual meet for them.

“Oakland has improved since last year. They swam very well here (at the Dennis Stark Relays) earlier this fall, and tend to swim faster in their home pool. Diving will certainly be a factor for us in each of these meets.”

John Lytle claimed a pair of wins (50 Free and 100 Free) against the Wildcats last season despite Northwestern winning the meet, 189-111. Notre Dame handed Oakland a 174-126 defeat in January 2008, the last dual meet between the two programs.
