March 6, 2017

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After spending nine weeks in 2016 at the No. 1 spot in at least one of the major three polls (USILA, Inside Lacrosse or Lacrosse Magazine), the Irish return to the top spot for the first time in 2017, as Notre Dame was placed atop the rankings in all three polls.

The highly touted Irish defense, which is second in the nation in goals allowed per game with a mark of 6.33, turned in its best performance of the season on Saturday, March 6 against previous No. 1 Maryland to deliver the Irish the 5-4 win and propel the team to the top spot in the polls.
