Irish Show Out in Doubleheader Sweep of Duquesne & Western Michigan

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – It might be cold outside but the Notre Dame men’s tennis team brought the heat inside the Eck, posting back-to-back dominant wins over Duquesne and Western Michigan in their home opener doubleheader. The Fighting Irish improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 6-1 win over the Dukes and then a 7-0 sweep over the Broncos. 

There were many highlights of the day but let’s start in doubles with No. 15 Luis Llorens Saracho & Peter Nad earning a ranked win over No. 80 Antonpoulos & Corwin of WMU, 6-3. 

Notre Dame’s two ranked singles players – No. 24 Sebastian Dominko & No. 97 Perry Gregg – also impressed on Monday. Gregg went 2-0, earning a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Enrique Lana of Duquesne, then gutted out a 7-6(4), 6-3 win over Oscar Corwin of WMU. Dominko took to court one against the Broncos and made quick work of Ashton Adesoro, 6-3, 6-2. 

Furthermore, Giuseppe Cerasuolo went 2-0 on the day in singles, earning straight set victories in both dual matches.
