GLENVIEW, Ill. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team stands 15th following the first two rounds of the Windon Memorial Classic that were played Monday at the par-72, 7,031-yard North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill., just north of Chicago. The tournament, which is being hosted by Northwestern University, features eight of the top 50 teams in the nation, according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index rankings, led by No. 10 Minnesota and No. 25 California.
The Irish carded a two-round score of 607, firing a season-low 301 in the opening round before cooling off slightly on the second 18 holes and posting a 306 team total. A quartet of Big Ten Conference teams are among those teams pacing the field thus far, led by Minnesota with a five-under par 571 (283-288). Illinois is second at 574, three shots ahead of Purdue, with Northwestern and Toledo tied for fourth place at 579.

The final round of the Windon Memorial Classic will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. (CDT). Results will be posted on the official Notre Dame athletics web site (www.und.com), as well as the Notre Dame Sports Hotline (574-631-3000) upon completion of the event.
