EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The No. 5 Notre Dame women’s cross country team posted a team score of 22 and the No. 16 Irish men’s cross country squad beat out a trio of higher-ranked programs with a 60 as the two teams swept the top podium spots at the 2025 NCAA Great Lakes Regional races at Angel Mounds Historic Site on Friday.

It is the second-consecutive podium sweep for the Irish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional as both teams earned automatic bids to the 2025 NCAA Championships.

WOMEN’S RACE

The Notre Dame women’s cross country team was dominant as the Irish had a pack of runners at the front of the race from start to finish on their way to the 2025 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship on Friday morning. It is the fifth consecutive Great Lakes Region title for the Irish women.

Amaya Aramini and Mary Bonner Dalton continued to prove to be a formidable one-two punch for the Irish as the pair took first and second to set the tone for the Notre Dame win. Aramini captured the individual title – the first of her career – in a course-record and personal-record time of 19:37.97. Dalton turned in a 19:43.98, which also came in below the previous course record time (19:55.8 set in 2021 by Notre Dame’s Maddy Denner) to place second.

Siona Chisholm posted a 20:01.09 for fifth place for the Irish while Sophie Novak had a season-best and personal-best time of 20:06.76 to place seventh. Gretchen Farley wrapped up the team win with a 20:10.54 for ninth place as all five scoring Irish runners finished in the top nine.

Arianne Olson and Chloe Huyler finished back-to-back in 16th and 17th in times of 20:27.13 and 20:27.76, respectively. All seven Irish runners earned All-Region honors by virtue of placing in the top 25.

The Irish team score was lower than the placement of runners due to a team that was unable to register a team score placing a runner in the top ten.
