VERO BEACH, Fla. – The No. 42 Notre Dame men’s golf team tied the program record for lowest score after finishing at 22-under par (842) at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate. Despite the top mark, the Irish were not able to hold on to a top-three finish, coming in fourth place behind No. 37 Louisville (-24, 840) and Michigan State (-25, 839). South Florida took home the tournament title after recording a 44-under par (820).

Records Set
Notre Dame’s 22-under par marked the lowest team total in over a decade, matching the all-time record set at the 2006 Big East Championship.

Individually, Miguel Delgado set a new career best after finishing in eighth place with a 205 (-11). The 11-under par score tied Ben Albin (Georgetown Intercollegiate, 2016-17) for lowest individual 54-hole score in school history.

Delgado shot a 68 in Tuesday’s final round to add to his opening round marks of 68 and 69. Delgado finishes fall play with 11 rounds under par, including six rounds in the 60’s.

Quotable
“I thought we had a very good fall,” Notre Dame head coach John Handrigan stated. “The guys gave it everything they had. They shot quite a few rounds under par this tournament and competed with a lot of tough programs that we’ll see down the round. We certainly put ourselves in the position to win a tournament a lot this fall. We’ll learn from it which will lead to a lot of great things thing spring.”

Final Round
A day after carding a career low round of 66 (-6) to open the tournament, Kevin Conners followed right behind Delgado, coming in ninth place with a career best 206 (-10). Conners carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday.

Hunter Ostrom tied for 42nd with a 215 (-1) total, counting a score of 71 (-1) for the Irish today. The one-under par marked the junior’s lowest tournament score for a par-72 course this fall.

Meanwhile, Ben Albin (73, +1) and Davis Chatfield (73, +1) rounded out the scores for the Irish on Tuesday. Albin finished with a 218 (+2) for the tournament, while Chatfield notched a 223 (+7).
