The Oak Hill Intercollegiate, co-hosted by the University of Notre Dame and the University of Rochester, April 21-22, Oak Hill Country Club, Rochester, N.Y.
-THE LAYOUT
The East Course at Oak Hill Country Club was designed by famed golf course architect Donald Ross, and is one of two courses on the club property. Expected to play at roughly 7,010 yards, the East Course has hosted 10 major championships, the 1995 Ryder Cup, and has been ranked on the Golf Digest list of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.

“The neat thing for us is to be able to play a championship golf course, which is one of our goals when we set our schedule each year. The membership has been so wonderfully supportive, and that has been very special with the preparation. It has been great. I think you’ll have a championship environment, which gives the guys a nice atmosphere to prepare in (for ACCs). The golf course will be a great test, so from that standpoint I think we are in great shape.”
-HIGHLIGHT OF EASTER WEEKEND
The 54-hole stroke play tournament will be contested over two days, and begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (ET) on Monday. The second round is scheduled to begin immediately following the conclusion of round one, as play will remain continuous throughout the day. The third and final round will be contested on Tuesday, with tee times beginning off the first and 10th tees at 8:30 a.m.
-NEW YORK FEEL AT OAK HILL
Of the seven teams entered in the Oak Hill Intercollegiate field, three are located in upstate New York. Joining co-hosts Notre Dame and Rochester for the two-day tournament are Boston College, Canisius, Georgetown, Nebraska and St. Bonaventure.
-STARTING FOR THE IRISHââ’¬¦
Notre Dame’s starting lineup at this week’s Oak Hill Intercollegiate will feature senior tri-captains Niall Platt and Rochester native Andrew Lane, sophomore Cory Sciupider and freshmen Liam Cox and Matt Rushton. Participating as individuals will be senior tri-captain Andrew Carreon, and juniors Patrick Grahek and Tyler Wingo.

-LOOKING AHEAD
Notre Dame will compete for the first time in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship on April 25-27 at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The final regular season tournament on the 2014 schedule for the University of Notre Dame men’s golf team is set to take place at one of the landmark golf layouts in the United States. The Irish, along with the University of Rochester, will serve as co-hosts of the Oak Hill Intercollegiate on the East Course of Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y. this week.
Monday’s first day of play is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. (ET) shotgun start, with continuous play through round two. Tuesday’s third and final round is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. with tee times off the first and 10th tees.
“It’s a neat field to come together over the Easter weekend,” Notre Dame head coach Jim Kubinski said. “The holiday is so special for all of the schools, and to be able to spend that time together this time of the year is a lot of fun for everyone, especially at a historic place like Oak Hill.
“Having hosted the PGA Championship last summer and so many majors over the years, it is great to be in with some good teams, including our former BIG EAST rivals in Georgetown and Boston College,” Kubinski added. “BC is with us in the ACC now as well, but it is special to continue those longstanding rivalries with those teams.”
Senior tri-captain Niall Platt will make the final regular season start of his storied Notre Dame career at the Oak Hill Intercollegiate, fresh off a tie for second place (209, -4) on April 5-6 at the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C. Platt claimed the all-time Irish scoring average by lowering his career scoring clip to 73.19 with his runner-up result at Irish Creek.
Joining Platt in the Notre Dame lineup for the final time will be fellow senior captain Andrew Lane. Lane, making his first appearance in the Irish starting five this season, is a native of Rochester, and a member of Oak Hill Country Club.
“As was the case in trying to get Niall out to Southern California (Lamkin San Diego Classic in March) near his home, and taking Andrew Carreon to San Antonio, Texas (Lone Star Invitational in March), those were really neat experiences,” Kubinski said. “With Andrew, he’s not only in his hometown but at his home club, I think that will make it even more special. He has been a hard working kid for us for four years, he has had some good rounds for us in that time and is just a real competitive guy.
“He is someone who, if you are patterning the competitiveness you want in a player here at Notre Dame, Andrew Lane has those qualities,” Kubinski added. “We are really happy to take him home, and are looking for him to make a move and a push for the ACC lineup with some strong play at Oak Hill.”
Sophomore Cory Sciupider and freshmen Liam Cox and Matt Rushton are scheduled to round out the Notre Dame starting lineup. Carreon, junior Patrick Grahek and junior Tyler Wingo will each compete as unattached individuals.
