IRISH ITEMS – BY THE NUMBERS

1

Since 2000-01 (first year of the Mike Brey era), Notre Dame has led the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (1.44).

2

The Irish have a two-game win streak against ranked teams – with both those victories coming at Purcell Pavilion. Notre Dame defeated No. 11/11 Florida State 83-73 on March 6, 2021, on senior night last season, then defeated No. 10/12 Kentucky 66-62 last Saturday.

7

Notre Dame will confer an NCAA Division I men’s basketball-best seven degrees in the spring of 2022 – undergraduate degrees to R. Carmody, D. Goodwin, P. Hubb, N. Laszewski, C. Ryan and T. Wertz, along with a graduate degree to P. Atkinson Jr.

8

Career-best streak of double-digit scoring games for Dane Goodwin, who leads the Irish at 14.3 ppg.

13.0

Points-per-game average for freshman Blake Wesley, which is the second-best average in the ACC and seventh-best among major conference true freshman (see page 4 for more details).

20+

Blake Wesley has scored 20-or-more points twice off the bench this season. In the Mike Brey era, a bench player has only scored 20-or-more points 16 times and only two other players have done it twice – Chris Quinn (2003, 2004) and David Graves (2001, 2002).

24

Blake Wesley scored 24 points off the bench at Illinois, including 18 in the second half. It was the most points from a bench player since teammate Dane Goodwin scored 27 against Detroit Mercy in 2019. It also was the most against a Power 5 opponent since Bonzie Colson’s 31 at Duke in 2016.

27

Points scored in his first career start at Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic last season by senior Trey Wertz. Activated by an unexpected NCAA ruling allowing all transfers immediate eligibility on Dec. 16, 2021, the game vs. Purdue last season was Wertz second for the Irish.

33

Team rebounds pulled down by Notre Dame against Kentucky on Saturday. The Wildcats entered the game as the top rated defensive rebound team in the nation but the Irish managed to out-rebound Kentucky 33-28.

73

Notre Dame and Indiana will be meeting for the 73rd time on Saturday afternoon. The series dates back all the way to 1908 when the Irish edged the Hoosiers 21-20 in Old Assembly Hall on Feb. 19.

Indiana leads the most recent series of meetings 4-3, including a two-point victory in 2019 and an overtime win in 2017.
