NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s soccer team will play host to a BIG EAST Championship quarterfinal match on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) at Alumni Stadium. The Fighting Irish will face the winner of Thursday’s first-round contest between USF and Marquette.
Notre Dame earned a first-round bye in the league tournament with its second-place finish in the Blue Division. The Fighting Irish went 8-3 in conference play to match a program record for BIG EAST victories in a single season. Connecticut captured the Blue Division title with its win over Marquette on Monday in the regular-season finale. The Huskies posted an 8-2-1 league record.
This is Notre Dame’s 13th appearance in the BIG EAST Championship. The Fighting Irish are 12-9-2 all-time in the league tournament. Notre Dame fell to USF, 2-1, in last season’s semifinals in Tampa, Fla. Notre Dame won the tournament in 1996 and 2003.
Sunday’s match will feature a live video broadcast on und.com.
The semifinals and finals of the 2009 BIG EAST Championship will be held in Morgantown, W. Va. on Nov. 13 and 15.
