SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s basketball team will not only add a preseason tune-up to its schedule but also help benefit a good cause. On Oct. 30, the Fighting Irish will travel to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum to take on Purdue Fort Wayne in a charity exhibition bout starting at 7 p.m. ET.
All proceeds from the game will go toward the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne.
Ticket prices for the contest will start at $12. They will go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 20 at noon ET at the Coliseum Box Office and Ticketmaster.com.
Notre Dame leads the overall series 7-0 against Purdue Fort Wayne. The two last squared off back on Dec. 6, 2016, with the Irish taking it 87-72 in South Bend. The last time the Irish competed in the Memorial Coliseum was back in 2005 – a 65-63 victory.
Purdue Fort Wayne is coming off a 23-13 campaign last year, finishing as runner-up in the CIT Postseason Tournament. Six of the Mastodons’ top seven scorers from last season return this year.
Notre Dame has competed in a charity exhibition prior to this season. In 2017, the Irish hosted Holy Cross College to support relief efforts after a series of hurricanes affected Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
