Notre Dame at Virginia Tech Box Score
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) – Chris Thomas scored 23 points and Torin Francis had 22 points and 16 rebounds on Tuesday night to lead Notre Dame to a 74-63 win over Virginia Tech.
The Fighting Irish (9-5, 3-2 Big East Conference) used a 10-3 run to start the second half, capped on a three-point play by Colin Falls with 16:47 remaining to take a 40-25 lead.
Virginia Tech (8-7, 1-3) trailed by as many as 17, but Zabain Dowdell made a layup to cut the deficit to 59-52 with 2:52 left. Dowdell scored 18 points, but the Hokies shot just 35.4 percent from the field compared to 45.6 percent for Notre Dame.
Chris Quinn added 13 points for Notre Dame, which made 7 of 8 free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.
The Hokies, who trailed 30-22 at the half, were paced by Bryant Matthews with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
