NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame track and field team travels to Tempe, Arizona, to compete in the Sun Angel Track Classic at Arizona State on April 7-8.
The Irish are coming off a busy weekend that featured split-squad meets at Stanford, Texas and Texas State. Notre Dame distance and middle distance runners, in particular, turned in performances that moved them into the national conversation.
Sophomore Anna Rohrer (31:58) ran the fastest 10,000m race in the world this season, setting an Atlantic Coast Conference record and recording the seventh-fastest time in NCAA history. Senior Chris Marco recorded a time of 3:43.98 in the 1,500m at Stanford and currently ranks 15th in the country this season.
Graduate student Molly Seidel made her return to the track and ran her first 10,000m race since winning a national championship. Seidel, who competed in the second heat at Stanford, placed first with a time of 33:19.60 and finished just one second shy of her personal record.

What to Watch
Senior Jacob Dumford will lead a pack of four men’s middle distance runners in the 1,500m race. Dumford will be joined by juniors Kevin Pulliam and Brent Kennedy and freshman Sean Kurdy.
Dumford, sophomore Emily Franz and freshman Clayton Goldman also will race in the 800m.
In the infield, sophomore Matthew Birzer, junior Hunter Holton and freshmen Keira Kelly and Libby Parsons will compete in the high jump.
Senior Nathan Richartz and freshmen Landon Shank and Kassadee Ifft will jump in the pole vault. Richartz will look to bounce back after jumping to eighth place with a 5.20m mark at the Texas Relays.
Sophomore Daniel Hardiman and freshmen Logan Kusky and Shae Watkins will compete in the shot put on the men’s side, while senior Indi Jackson and freshman Abbey Kapitan will throw for the women.
Kapitan also will compete in the hammer throw, alongside Kusky, Watkins and senior Anthony Shivers.
Shivers, Hardiman, Watkins and sophomore Alexa Coubal will compete in the discus.
Sophomore Zachary Zajdel will race in his fourth meet of the season at Arizona State. Zajdel, sophomore Kyla Lewis and freshman Michaela Butler are scheduled to race in the 100m and the 200m dash. Junior Payton Miller and freshmen Naya Sharp and Madysen Hunter will run in the 200m.
Miller, who placed fifth in the 400m dash at Texas State’s Bobcat Invitational, will have her second try at the race in as many weekends.
Junior Jordan Shead and freshman Grace Cronin are scheduled to run in the 400m hurdles. Last weekend, Cronin finished seventh overall at the Bobcat Invitational.
In the 100m hurdles, senior Taylor Craft leads a youthful squad, including Sharp, Hunter, Cronin and freshman Summer Thorpe.
Craft also will compete in the triple jump.
Notre Dame will race two relay teams, including one squad in the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. Sharpe, Thorpe, Butler and Lewis will team up in the 4x100m relay, and Shead, Miller, Thorpe and Cronin will race in the 4x400m relay.
