FLUSHING, N.Y. — The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team’s doubles pairs saw their runs come to an end Friday in the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The sophomore pair of Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar saw their unbeaten streak come to an end in a 6-3, 6-3 setback to the ITA preseason 19th-ranked and first-seeded Yannick Hanfmann and Roberto Quiroz of USC.
After a thrilling pair of matches on Thursday, 27th-ranked Billy Pecor and Alex Lawson also saw their run come to an end, falling to UCLA’s Mackenzie McDonald and Martin Redicki (No. 31), 7-5, 6-4.
The National Indoor Championships mark the end of the fall season for the Irish. They will return to action in January at the Morgan Run Hidden Duals in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
