NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame junior Jennifer Kellner (Smithtown, N.Y.) was selected as the BIG EAST Player of the Week for women’s tennis, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Kellner went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles play against Bowling Green and No. 24 Illinois last week to open the 2013 season. Kellner downed No. 59 Allison Falkin 6-3, 6-0 to help secure a 4-3 win over Illinois, and her first career victory over an Intercollegiate Tennis Association top-60 player.
Notre Dame will compete at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend Jan. 26-27 in Lincoln, Neb.
