NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame cross country team begins the 2016 postseason with the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on Friday. In just its fourth season in the conference, Notre Dame travels to Cary, North Carolina, looking to capture its first ACC title.

Women’s 6K: 10 a.m.
Men’s 8K: 10:45 a.m.
Conference Competition
The men’s championship meet features three ranked teams, including No. 6 Syracuse, No. 16 Virginia and No. 26 Virginia Tech. The women’s team, ranked No. 19, joins No. 3 North Carolina State as the only ranked teams competing in the meet.
Postseason History
In last season’s ACC Championships, Molly Seidel placed first individually (19:36.2), and then-freshman Anna Rohrer finished second (20:08.3). Michael Clevenger recorded Notre Dame’s best time (23:58.5) on the men’s side, finishing 13th and receiving All-ACC honors. As a team, the women finished in third place, while the men’s squad placed sixth.
First For Everything
A youthful men’s team heads into the postseason looking for contributions from four different freshmen, including Tyler Keslin, Dustin Macuiba, Peter Monahan and Kevin Salvano.
Seniors and co-captains Jacob Dumford and Chris Marco will lead the group, which as a team, has run in a combined six career ACC Championships.
“This group is made up of four freshmen and two sophomores,” assistant coach Sean Carlson said. “We are excited for our younger guys to gain experience and establish themselves as key contributors this season and in the future.”

Megan Golden, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since August of 2016. In her role, she coordinates all media efforts for the Notre Dame women’s lacrosse and cross country/track and field programs. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Golden is a 2014 graduate of Saint Mary’s College and former Irish women’s basketball manager. Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, she worked in public relations with the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox.
