Kyle McAlarney Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Kyle McAlarney (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named to the named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 23.0 points and 4.5 assists in wins over Colgate and Eastern Michigan. The junior guard also shot a blistering 72.7 percent (16-22) from the field (16-22) and 70.6 percent from three-point range. This marks the third time that McAlarney has earned weekly honor roll recognition during his career.

The 6-1 guard netted a career-high 25 points in Notre Dame’s 94-63 victory over Colgate as he finished 8-12 from the field and 7-10 from three-point range. The seven three-point field also matched a career best. In the 76-65 win over Eastern Michigan, McAlarney registered his third consecutive 20-plus point outing as he netted 21 points, hitting 8-10 from the field and 5-7 from beyond the arc.

McAlarney has helped the Irish to a 6-2 mark while averaging 14.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He has scored in double figures in six contests and is shooting 46.4 percent (39-84) from the field and 48.1 percent (25-52) from three-point range.

Draelon Burns of DePaul was named the league’s player of the week, while Dominique Jones of South Florida garnered rookie-of-the-week honors. Joining McAlarney on the honor roll were Arinze Onuaku of Syracuse, Joe Alexander of West Virginia, Weyinmi Efejuki of Providence and Lazar Hayward of Marquette.
