LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Members of the University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded competition at the Cardinal Last Chance meet at the Cardinal Park Track Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Friday. Freshman Megan Yanik ran 59.34 to finish first in the 400-meter hurdles.
Yanik and the Irish return to action Thursday as they compete in the NCAA Regionals in Bloomington, Ind. The three-day meet is the last meet before the NCAA Championship in Des Moines, Iowa.
Women’s Results
Hammer Throw: Madeline Casanova placed 11th (49.70m).
Long Jump: Jasmine Williams finished in second place with a mark of 6.07m.
400-meter dash: Michelle Brown was the second-place finisher in 54.69.
Shot Put: Rudy Atang finished fourth (15.65m).
Discus Throw: Vivien Devaney finished in seventh place (43.11m).
400-meter hurdles: Megan Yanik was the first place finisher in 59.34.
Men’s Results
Hammer Throw: John Belcher placed 10th (53.08m), followed by Greg Davis who finished 13th (52.36m).
Pole Vault: Kevin Schipper was the second-place finisher (5.23m).
High Jump: Doug Onuscheck placed fifth (2.06m).
1,500-meter run: Jordan Carlson finished seventh in 3:52.35 and Spencer Carter finished in eighth place in 3:52.38.
400-meter dash: Patrick Feeney placed seventh in 47.74 and Edward Hitchler finished in ninth place in 48.05.
Shot Put: Denes Veres placed fifth (17.45m).
800-meter run: Kevin Labus finished third in 1:50.57, followed by Randall Babb in fifth place in 1:51.69.
200-meter dash: Edward Hitchler placed 13th in 21.93.
3,000-meter steeplechase: Kelly Lynch was the third-place finisher in 9:01.52.
