Lawson And Pecor's Run At ITA All-American Championships Ends In Quarterfinals

TULSA, Okla. – A remarkable run by the University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team at the 2014 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships ended Saturday afternoon as the No. 27 doubles duo of Alex Lawson and Billy Pecor fell to the No. 3 tandem of Arjun Kadhe and Jakob Sude from Oklahoma State, 6-1, 6-4, in the quarterfinals.

The loss ended Lawson and Pecor’s tournament in the round of eight after a pair of impressive wins in the round of 32 and round of 16 on Thursday and Friday. In the round of 16, the pair bested No. 12 Roberto Cid and Sasha Gozun from USF, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5).

With five student-athletes (3 singles, 1 doubles) at the ITA All-American Championships, the Irish compiled an 8-4 record and saw junior Quentin Monaghan advance to the round of 32 in the singles main draw in addition to Lawson and Pecor’s run to the quarterfinals in the doubles main draw.
Notre Dame returns to action Oct. 16-20 at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
