NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dan Langhi scored a career-high 33-points and nailed two free throws with a second left to put the game out of reach as Vanderbilt won 68-63 over Notre Dame on Saturday.

Langhi also pulled down 10 rebounds and sank all 11 of his shots from the free-throw line for Vanderbilt (4-1). The Commodores won despite shooting only 37.7 percent from the field.

Notre Dame (1-2) had a chance to take the lead late in game when Antoni Wyche went to the line with 26 seconds left with the Commodores ahead 64-63, but Wyche missed both free throws.

Free throws by James Strong, Deandre Moore and Langhi in the final 16 seconds put Vanderbilt up another 5 points.

Vanderbilt had a 29-28 lead at the half but the lead changed nine times in the second half. The Commodores moved ahead for good with 4:03 left, when Langhi sank two free throws to give the Commodores a 60-58 lead.

Notre Dame jumped out to a 9-2 lead early in the first half on a Troy Murphy free throw. The Irish led most of the half and were 22-13 lead with 7:27 left.

But Vanderbilt took a 16-6 run for the remainder of the period. Anthony Williams’ tip-in at the buzzer gave the Commodores their one-point lead at the half.

Notre Dame shot 51 percent from the field for the game and was led by Troy Murphy with 18 points, and David Graves with 17.

James Strong was the only other Commodore to reach double figures with 10 points.
