Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team closes out the fall portion of its schedule with a trip to Scarsdale, N.Y. and the Quaker Ridge Golf Club for the 2001 Tillinghast Invitational. The 36-hole tournament will be played on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 22-23 and features a 24-team field. The Quaker Ridge Golf Club is a par-70, 6,850-yard course.
A practice round will be played on Sunday, Oct. 21 with play starting at 7:45 a.m. on Monday morning.
Besides Notre Dame, the tournament will include teams from Texas El-Paso, the University of Texas-Arlington, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, Maryland, Ball State, Rutgers, Michigan, Richmond, Northwestern, Skidmore College, Bethune Cookman, Minnesota, Navy, Penn State, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Eastern Michigan and James Madison.
Competing for the Irish will be seniors Steve Ratay (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Chris Whitten (Rockford, Mich.) and Kevin Ricci (Stuart, Fla.), junior Brandon Lunke (San Antonio, Texas) and freshman Ryan Marshall (Marco Island, Fla.).
Notre Dame last played at the Xavier Provident Invitational on Oct. 8-9, where the Irish were eighth in the 19-team field. Ratay led the opening round of that tournament with a career-best five-under par 66 and finished fourth in the 54-hole tournament with a three-under par total of 210.
