The 22nd-ranked Notre Dame men’s tennis fell to 26th-ranked Washington 5-2 at the Ice Volleys on Friday night in its season-opening match. The Irish dropped the doubles point and four of six singles matches in the loss. They will meet New Mexico on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Senior All-American captain Ryan Sachire and sophmore Aaron Talarico posted three-set wins for the Irish. The 14th-ranked Sachire beat 65th-ranked Matt Hanlin at No. 1 singles, while Talarico rallied to beat Ari Strasberg at No. 5 singles.
