VERO BEACH, Fla. – The University of Note Dame men’s golf team wrapped up its fall slate on Tuesday, competing in the final round of the Quail Valley Collegiate. The Fighting Irish finished in eighth place, shooting an 866 (+2).
Senior Miguel Delgado shone bright by earning his first top-10 finish of the season and seventh of his career. Delgado shot a 70 (-2) in the final round to card a 211 (-5), which tied him for seventh place.
“Miguel played very consistent golf all week and earned an impressive top-10 finish in a very competitive field,” Notre Dame head coach John Handrigan stated. “As a team, we are capable of playing better. We are talented and I look forward to the challenge of making sure we are playing at the highest level this spring.”
FINAL ROUND
Delgado went 72-69-70 over the three days of the tournament to lead the Irish. On Tuesday, the senior posted a bogey-free round with birdies on holes three and 18.
Sophomore Davis Chatfield ended the tournament tied for 22nd with a 214 (-2) stroke total. Chatfield shot a 71 (-1) on the final day, which featured a two-under back nine.
John Felitto entered the final round tied for 14th at two-under par, but a tough front nine set the junior back as he shot a 77 (+5), sliding him to 40th place.
Lastly, Davis Lamb shot a 75 (+3) to finish tied for 52nd at 223 (+7), while freshman Andrew O’Leary carded a final round of 80 (+8) to tie for 66th at 227 (+11).
UP NEXT
The Irish will have four months off from official tournament action, resuming play at The Prestige in La Quinta, California, hosted by Stanford, Feb. 18-20.
