LA QUINTA, Calif. – The Notre Dame men’s golf returned to action for the first time this spring by competing in the opening round of The Prestige Presented by Charles Schwab. As a team, the Irish shot a 297 (+13), sitting in 10th place in the 16-team field.
Junior Davis Lamb led the way by carding Notre Dame’s lone round under-par. Lamb shot a 69 (-2) to move into the top-10 in a very strong field, occupying sixth place, just four strokes behind the leader.
Round One
Lamb had only two hiccups in the round with a bogey on par-four fifth and par-four 15th. Lamb rebounded with birdies on holes nine and 12. Lamb also responded in a big way with back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 to go two-under on the back, finishing with a round total of 69 (-2).
Miguel Delgado finished the round in 24th by shooting a 73 (+2). The senior shot two-over on the front, but countered with an even-par on the back, totaling four birdies in the round.
John Felitto started his day with a birdie on hole one but suffered from double-bogeys on holes two and five, resulting in a five-over par on the front. Felitto started strong on the back, where he was two-under until recording a triple-bogey on the last hole, resulting in a 77 (+6).
Taichi Kho and Hunter Ostrom rounded out the scores by each carding a 78 (+7).
