Men's Tennis Completes Sunshine Sweep

First Sunshine Double since 2015

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The 17th nationally ranked Notre Dame men’s tennis team jumped out to a 2-0 start to ACC play after defeating both No. 58 Miami and No. 45 Florida State in the same weekend. It marked the program’s first “Sunshine Double” since 2015. It also marked the program’s first win against the Seminoles since 2017.

Not only did the Fighting Irish complete the Sunshine Double, but they did so in dominant fashion, recording 4-0 sweeps in both. Then, the Blue & Gold completed the weekend with a 5-0 sweep over IU Indy.

Notre Dame improved to 12-2 overall on the season. More impressively, nine of the 12 victories have been shutouts.

A win on March 6 vs. Georgia Tech would officially mark Coach Sachire’s best start to a spring season at the helm of the program, surpassing the 2023-24 season.

Individual highlights from the weekend include:

  • Sebastian Dominko and Peter Nad find success together at No. 1 doubles. The newly paired duo scored a big ranked victory over No. 14 Miguel/Schiessl of Florida State, 6-4.
  • Perry Gregg, ranked 72nd in singles, went 3-0 on the weekend in the No. 2 position. The graduate has now won eight dual matches in a row to improve to 8-1 this spring.
  • Dominko faced two ranked opponents on court one and went 1-0. The senior first defeated No. 109 Luis Felipe Miguel of FSU, 6-3, 6-3, before his battle against No. 100 Antonio Prat of Miami went unfinished at 3-6, 6-3, 2-2.
  • Kryan Magimay scored a singles point in the Miami match, disposing Mehdi Sadaoui, 6-4, 6-2. Magimay boasts the longest win streak on the team at 13 and is undefeated this spring – 8-0 in dual matches.
