Olympia Fields, Ill. – Inclement weather forced Saturday’s matches at the Fighting Illini Men’s Tennis Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill., to be moved indoors. Eight University of Notre Dame players combined for a 7-7 record in the 14 matches they played during the second day of competition.

Junior Quentin Monaghan (Chatham, N.J.) finished 2-0 as he opened up action on Saturday morning with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Thomas Weigel of North Carolina State. He followed that win up with a straight set 7-5, 6-1 victory over Nick Horton, also of North Carolina State.

Also winning his only match of the day was junior Nicolas Montoya (Scottsdale, Ariz.). After dropping the first set 6-4, Montoya rallied to win the final two sets 6-1, 6-3 to post the victory over Shakeel Manji of Memphis.

Senior Wyatt McCoy (Shoreview, Minn.) ended up 1-1 in his two matches. After losing a 6-2, 6-2 decision in his morning match to Christian Langmo of Miami, McCoy rebounded to post a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 7-5 win over Gus Benson of Kentucky.
