Monaghan Begins Play At ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team continues play today, Sept. 30 at the 2013 ITA Men’s All-American Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Sophomore Quentin Monaghan begins his first match of the qualifying round at 9:30 a.m. CT against Nick Naumann of Texas. If he wins, he will move on to the second round of the draw tomorrow.

Monaghan’s teammates senior Ryan Bandy and sophomore Eric Schnurrenberger also competed in the prequalifying round of the tournament this weekend. Both players won their matches on day one of the round on Saturday, but Schnurrenberger lost his second match on Sunday to Joao Monteiro of Virginia Tech, 6-2, 6-3, and after cruising by his next opponent, Winthrop University’s Juan Pablo Boada, 6-0, 6-0, Bandy lost a close match to Austin Siegel of Oklahoma, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

Senior Greg Andrews will begin play in the main draw of the tournament on Thursday, Oct. 3.
