Nathan Richartz Named ACC Field Performer Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Indiana – After finishing first in the pole vault this past weekend at the Sun Angel Track Classic, graduate student Nathan Richartz was named the ACC Field Performer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Richartz competed against the meet’s best in the pole vault premiere Saturday night in Tempe and he did not disappoint. He cleared 5.55m (18-02.50) to win the event and had the best vault in the country this past weekend. He has won the pole vault event in every meet he has competed in this season.

Richartz opened up the outdoor season by breaking the school record after he cleared 5.60m (18-04.50) at the Hurricane Invitational. He also set the facility record at Cobb Stadium which will host the 2018 ACC Outdoor Championships next month. His school-record mark currently ranks first in the ACC and fourth nationally.

Two weeks ago, Richartz cleared 5.55m (18-02.50) to win the pole vault at the Stanford Invitational. His best mark at Stanford ended up 0.6 meters higher than the second-place finisher.

This is the second conference performer of the week honor this season for Richartz. He earned two last season, one during indoor and the other during outdoor

Notre Dame will take part in the Louisville Invitational next weekend at Cardinal Park. The meet will kick off with field events Friday afternoon and conclude on Saturday.
