Fla. International 7, Notre Dame 6, 10 innings
Barry Paulk’s RBI single, following a catcher’s interference call that put runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the 10th, led Florida International (42-18) past Notre Dame.
With an 0-2 count, Burgos appeared to knock Irish starter Danny Tamayo’s pitch foul to the backstop, but Burgos was awarded first base after a protest and appeal by Golden Panthers coach Danny Price.
Notre Dame 11, UC Santa Barbara 10, 10 innings
Brian Stavisky’s second home run of the game, a shot over the center-field fence off James Garcia in the top of the 10th inning, gave Notre Dame (48-12-1) the victory over UC Santa Barbara (40-17).
Stavisky was 4-for-6 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs. Notre Dame will play Florida International on Monday in the super regional final. The Irish must beat Florida International twice.
