Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame goaltender David Brown (Sr., Stoney Creek, Ont.) has been selected as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s (CCHA) goaltender of the week for the week ending Nov. 5. For Brown, this marks the second time this season that he has earned the CCHA’s weekly goaltending honors.
In two games at Ohio State, Brown stopped 46-of-49 Buckeye shots on the weekend for a .939 save percentage as the Irish won 4-2 on Friday night and then battled to a 1-1 overtime final on Saturday evening. The win and tie improved Notre Dame to 6-1-1 on the year and 1-0-1 in CCHA play.
On Friday night, Brown stopped 22 shots as Notre Dame built a 3-0 lead on the way to the 4-2 victory. Saturday night saw the senior goaltender make 24 saves with the lone goal coming on the power play in the 1-1 tie.
For the season, Brown is now 5-1-1 overall with a 1.26 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage with both those marks leading the CCHA and the nation. He now has a five-game unbeaten streak since Oct. 20, going 4-0-1 in those games and a miniscule 0.98 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage.
On the season, Notre Dame leads the nation with stingiest defense, giving up just nine goals in eight games for a 1.12 goals-against. Of the nine goals, only four have come at even strength.
Notre Dame returns home this week for the first time since Oct. 12 and will play host to the Bowling Green Falcons on Fri.-Sat., Nov. 10-11 at the Joyce Center. Friday’s game starts at 7:35 p.m. and Saturday’s contest has a 7:05 p.m. face off.
