Pregame Festivities
Notre Dame Athletics is offering a pre-game fan fest for all patrons attending the baseball, softball and men’s lacrosse games. The fan fest will take place in the baseball parking lot from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and feature local food trucks. In addition, a beer garden is planned (weather permitting). All fans at the beer garden must be 21 years of age or older.
The Duke Series

Saturday will be the 21st meeting all-time between Notre Dame and Duke. The Irish trail in the series with the Blue Devils, as Notre Dame has an 8-12 record in the matchup.

The the two sides split the season series in 2017. The Blue Devils won the regular season matchup at Koskinen Stadium, handing Notre Dame an 11-8 defeat. However, Notre Dame traveled back to Durham for the semifinals of the ACC tournament and discarded the Blue Devils by a score of 7-6 to advance to the championship game.

The Irish are 2-1 when playing Duke at Arlotta Stadium, winning the last meeting 8-6 during the 2016 season.
Sexton Showing Out

Senior LSM John Sexton has been regarded as one of the top LSMs in the country over the last couple of seasons and he is proving his merit in 2018.

Sexton has 33 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, two goals and an assist over the seven games he has played in this season.

The senior’s best performances have come in the last three games, as Sexton has combined to scoop 21 groundballs, force seven turnovers, scored a goal and added an assist.

Earlier this season, Sexton was the only men’s lacrosse player to earn the ACC’s Weaver-James-Corrigan Award, a postgraduate scholarship.
A Balanced Attack

Through eight games this season, the Irish have shared the wealth in the attack, as four players currently have 16 or more points.

Junior Ryder Garnsey leads the team in points with 20, coming off 13 goals and seven assists.

Bryan Costabile paces the Irish in goals scored with 17, while Brendan Gleason is tied for the team lead in assists with seven to go along with 12 goals.

Mikey Wynne has also recorded double-digit goal totals for the season, finding the back of the net 13 times during his senior campaign.

The Irish have had a different player lead the team in scoring in five of the first eight games of 2018 – Bryan Costabile (5 goals, Detroit), Brendan Gleason (3 goals, Richmond), Ryder Garnsey (4 goals, Maryland), Gleason again (4 goals, Denver), Wynne (4 goals, Virginia), Garnsey (5 goals, Michigan) and Willetts (2 goals, Syracuse).

Garnsey, Gleason and Wynne each scored two goals in the win over Ohio State.
Winning Time

Notre Dame has played its best lacrosse when it has needed it most, outscoring opponents by a combined score of 28-17 in the fourth quarter this season.

The Irish have outscored six of their eight opponents in the final frame this season.

Notre Dame trailed Ohio State 6-5 heading into the fourth quarter and then the Irish outscored the Buckeyes 4-2 over the final 15 minutes to pull out the 9-8 victory.

Virginia led the Irish 7-6 entering the fourth quarter but Notre Dame outscored the Cavaliers 3-0 to secure the 9-7 win.

Trailing Detroit 6-5 heading into the fourth quarter of the season opener, the Irish offense came alive and scored five times in the last 15 minutes to take the victory 10-7.

The Irish and Richmond were tied at 6-6 heading to the final frame and Notre Dame outscored the Spiders 5-1 to win the contest 11-7
Protect This House

Since the beginning of the 2015 season, the Irish are 24-3 when playing at Notre Dame.

The Irish are 4-1 this season, allowing fewer than 10 goals in 4-of-5 home contests.

Notre Dame went 7-0 in 2015, 7-1 in 2016 and 6-1 in 2017.
Moving Up In The Ranks

Senior attackman Mikey Wynne ranks tied for fourth in program history in career goals with 119. (Full rankings in sidebar on page 4)

Wynne moved into a tie for fourth with former standout Joe Franklin in the win over Ohio State (3/25).

Wynne is just the eighth player in program history to surpass the 100-goal mark, as he scored three times against Army in the final regular-season game of the 2017 season on May 6 to reach the milestone.
