NOTRE DAME, Indiana – After two straight weekends with west coast trips, the Notre Dame track & field team won’t travel as far when it heads down for the Louisville Invitational. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the meet has been moved up a day due to the threat of inclement weather.
WHAT: Louisville Invitational
WHEN: April 13, 2018
WHERE: Cardinal Park (Louisville, Ky.)
LIVE STATS:Louisville Live Results
Graduate student Nathan Richartz will look to keep his perfect spring going Friday at Cardinal Park in the pole vault. So far this outdoor season, Richartz has won all three pole vault events he has competed in and he has cleared 18 feet each time. During the week, he was named ACC Field Performer of the Week for the second time after winning the pole vault premiere at the Sun Angel Track Classic.
Last season at Louisville, Richartz broke the school record in pole vault when he cleared 5.51m (18-00.75). He has broken his record twice since this time last year, at the 2017 outdoor ACC Championships (5.55m, 18-02.50) and earlier this season at the Hurricane Invitational (5.60m, 18-04.50).
Richartz was not the only Irish athlete to set a personal record last season at the Louisville Invitational. Logan Kusky and Daniel Hardiman both set personal-best marks in the discus last year. The pair will be representing the men’s squad in the discus tomorrow afternoon. Last week in Tempe, Hardiman set a personal record in the discus and finished ninth.
Rachel Tanczos also set a personal record in the discus at the Sun Angel Track Classic and finished third overall. She will represent the women’s squad along with Indi Jackson tomorrow in the discus at Louisville.
Elijah Silva, Billy Dolan, Brian Griffith, Parker Jones and Vincent Zona are set to run in the men’s 1500m tomorrow afternoon. Silva will be competing in his second outdoor meet after making his outdoor debut two weeks ago. He set a personal record in the 800m (1:50.84) at Stanford and finished 10th overall.
Senior Allison Bartoszewicz is scheduled to run in the 200m and 400m tomorrow. She set a personal record in the 400m (55.19) at the Hurricane Invitational and has had two runner-up finishes in the 4x400m relay this season.
Throwing events will kick off the Louisville Invitational tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET. Jumps will follow at 1:30 p.m. and the track events will get going around 2 p.m. The live results link will be active tomorrow and fans can follow the results here.
