Irish Rebound With Thunder
NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame women’s basketball teamrebounded from its loss to top-ranked Connecticut on Sunday as theIrish posted a 91-64 Big East victory over Boston College at the JoyceCenter. With the win, Notre Dame, ranked 17th nationally, improves to21-5 overall and 13-1 in the Big East.
Beth Morgan, Notre Dame’s all-time leading scorer, led five NotreDame players in double figures with a game-high 17 points. She alsoled all rebounders with seven boards.
Rosanne Bohman, who has been in double figures in six of the lastseven games, chipped in 16 points as she hit seven of nine from thefield, including her first-ever three-pointer. Bohman, who fouled outin the contest, finished with five assists. Her 16 points was justone point shy of her career best
Sophomore Sheila McMillen also scored 16 points as she connectedon six of eight from the field and was a perfect two-for-two fromthree-point range.
Notre Dame’s leading scorer Katyrna Gaither added 13 points as shemissed just one of her seven attempts from the field. Gaither playedonly 17 minutes in the game after being sidelined with two fouls earlyin the first half.
Freshman Julie Henderson added 10 points, hitting for doublefigures for the second time this season.
Notre Dame shot a season-high 68.0 percent from the field and heldthe Eagles to 35.7 percent accuracy from the field.
The Irish outrebounded Boston College 32-21 in the game. BostonCollege, which fell to 13-9 overall and 9-5 in the Big East, went tothe free throw line 41 times and made 32 free throws.
The two teams combined for 55 turnovers in the game as the Irishhad a season-high 27.
Notre Dame, which never trailed in the game, will return to actionon Sunday, February 12 at 3:00 p.m. when the Irish travel toProvidence College.
