BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame’s track and field teams traveled to Bloomington, Indiana for a weekend of competition at the annual IU Relays. In between home meets, a smaller squad made the trek south to compete for the Irish.

Logan Kusky highlighted the evening of competition for the Irish as he boasted a distance of 20.60m in the men’s weight throw, earning a spot on the Notre Dame record boards as he beat the team’s previous record of 20.50m set by Anthony Shivers in 2017. Also in the field, Jernaya Sharp led the Blue & Gold long jump, soaring to a meet-best 5.47m and 10th place.

Sharp and Grace Cronin opened the meet on the track, both placing first in their respective 60m hurdle races to qualify for a spot in the finals later this weekend. The Irish ran three individuals in the 600m relay, two of whom finished in the top-10 as Clayton Goldman took fourth with a time of 1:21.96 and Matt Fraizer placed ninth in 1:23.80. Luke Phillips came just shy of the top-10, finishing 11th overall with a time of 1:25.13.

Madysen Hunter and Shae Douglas represented the Irish women in the 200m dash where they ran to 21st and 26th place, respectively. On the men’s side, Luis Cossio finished the race in 23.64 for 22nd overall.
