CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Irish continued their run at the ACC Outdoor Championships Friday afternoon as three individuals advanced to Saturday’s finals while three more added hardware to the trophy shelf on the second day of competition.
Logan Kusky, earning bronze in the hammer throw, rewrote the record books with a school record mark of 66.30m. His finished echoed that of 2018 when he finished third overall to add to the Irish overall standings and earn All-ACC honors.
Also in the field, Rachel Tanczos contributed to the women’s scoreboard and earned her second medal of the weekend with her fifth place finish in the shot put competition.
Anna Sophia Keller was the third Irish individual to earn All-ACC honors on Friday, finishing fifth overall with a career best 3K steeplechase time of 10:32.60 to be named to the conference second team.
Advancing to Saturday’s finals are Summer Thorpe (100m hurdles), Jess Harris (800m run) and Samuel Voelz (800m run). All three won their respective heats with Thorpe becoming the first automatic qualifier of the day for Notre Dame, crossing the hurdle finish in 13.21 seconds.
Harris and Voelz both posted the fastest prelims time in their 800m races as Harris finished in 2:05.82 on the women’s side before Voelz won the men’s race with a personal best 1:50.05 time.

The final day of competition has been moved up due to anticipated storms later in the day. The field events will open at 10 a.m. with the men’s discus before the running finals get underway at 12:05 p.m.
In total, seven Irish individuals have advanced to Saturday’s final events on the track.
