ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Caroline Meuth and Sydney Bent each secured double-doubles, but the Notre Dame volleyball team fell to Michigan 3-1 (23-25, 15-25, 25-20, 16-25) Sunday on the road at Crisler Center.

The non-conference loss moved Notre Dame to 7-3 on the season.

The Fighting Irish were led by the double-doubles from Meuth, who had 11 kills and 15 digs, and Bent, who had 11 kills and 12 digs. Charley Niego added 15 kills to help the attack and Zoe Nunez posted 40 assists. 

On the defensive end, Madison Cruzado chipped in for the Irish with nine digs to go with four blocks from Kristin Baer.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Set
Michigan led for the majority of the first set until four straight Irish points evened the frame, 23-23. The hosts responded with two straight points to take the set, 25-23, and earn a 1-0 lead in the match.

Second Set
After the second set opened in a 3-3 tie, the Wolverines took control of the stanza and earned a 25-15 set win to take a 2-0 lead.

Third Set
The Irish used a 5-0 run, which included kills by Bent and Meuth, to earn a 16-11 advantage and take control of the third set. From there, Notre Dame never led by less than four en route to a 25-20 win that forced a fourth set.

Fourth Set
The fourth set opened up in a 7-7 tie before Michigan used 4-0 and 5-0 runs to go in control and earn a 25-16 win to clinch the match.
