Irish closed out the fall season at the Gopher Invite this past weekend. Multiple teams across the country participated including Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Denver, Wichita State, Marquette and DePaul.
Over 3 days, Irish secured 18 victories overall between doubles and singles play within 4 rounds. Freshman Matt Che went 4-0 in singles against a high level of competition. He defeated Daniel Krulig of Denver 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the first round. In the second, he beat Northwestern’s Simen Bratholm 7-6, 6-2. Che went on to defeat Sebastian Vile of the host team, Minnesota, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0(7). In the fourth round, Che pulled through once again to secure his final win against another Minnesota player, Kaleb Dobbs, 6-4, 6-4.
