NOTRE DAME, Ind. University of Notre Dame senior goaltender Cale Morris has been named the Big Ten’s Third Star of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday (Nov. 12). 

Morris helped lead the Fighting Irish to a weekend sweep of then eighth/ninth-ranked Ohio State, posting a .942 save percentage and a 1.46 goals against average in the two-game series. In Saturday’s 2-1 game two victory, Morris stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced to earn the 50th win of his Irish career.

An All-American and Mike Richter Award Winner (2018), Morris is now 50-21-5 in his Notre Dame career with a 2.08 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. His 50 career wins are the fifth-most by an Irish goaltender as he joins Jordan Pearce (2005-09; 59 wins), Steven Summerhays (2010-14; 57 wins), David Brown (2003-07; 55 wins) and Cal Petersen (2014-17; 55 wins) in the 50-career wins club. 

Over the past three seasons, Morris has now racked up 12 weekly Big Ten honors: First Star (6), Second Star (3), Third Star (3).
