Chestnut Hill, MA— Irish are “as motivated as ever” after dropping to IU last weekend as they continue the roadstead at Boston College and aim to remain undefeated against the Eagles. The matchup commences on Friday at 12 p.m. ET in Chestnut Hill, MA

Sophmore Axel Nefve has noticed a shift in the team’s energy since the Irish dropped to the Hoosiers.

“Right now, our team is as motivated as ever and I can feel the energy is different since our loss to IU," Axel Nefve said. "Whether it be in the weight room or on the court, there’s a different tone in the way we do things as we know we have more to prove.”

Head Coach Ryan Sachire also had a few words on launching the ACC campaign at Boston College.

"We are looking forward to playing up in Boston and kicking off our ACC schedule. They have one of their better teams in recent years and will be a formative test for our guys," stated Coach Sachire. "We are looking forward to bouncing back after a tough match last Saturday at IU."

HISTORY

Since joining the ACC, the Irish have NEVER fallen to the Eagles including going 6-0 under Coach Sachire’s reign. In total, the Irish have secured an 8-0 record over Boston College. Starting in the 2013-2014 season, the Irish consecutively swept the Eagles, 7-0, for 4 straight seasons before winning 4-3 in the 2017-2018 season. Last year, the Irish claimed a 6-1 victory at home.

At this moment in time, Boston College has no ranked players in either singles or doubles and remains unranked as a team. Upon the new ITA rankings that were released on February 5, Richard Ciamarra remains ranked No. 5 in the nation. The doubles duo, Richard Ciamarra/Tristan McCormick have dropped from No. 15 to No. 32 even though they have not battled as a pair so far this season.

UP NEXT

The next road showdown after the Irish challenge the Eagles is on February 15 at 7 p.m. ET vs. Illinois before finally returning home as ND welcomes three teams, Ohio State and St. Bonaventure on February 22 and Michigan on February 23.
