GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Notre Dame track and field programs had fourteen representatives named to the 2021-22 All-ACC Academic Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Teams on Wednesday morning.
There were a total of eight representatives from the men’s side and six from the women’s squad. Standouts Samuel Voelz achieved the honors for the fourth straight indoor seasons while Rachel Tanczos earned her third recognition.
Jadin O’Brien and Yared Nuguse were also named to the squad. Nuguse broke an 18-year old collegiate record during his indoor campaign. O’Brien finished fourth at the 2022 Indoor National Championships in the pentathlon and earned All-American honors.
The men’s distance medley relay crew of Sam Voelz, Max Frye, Tim Zepf and Yared Nuguse were all named to the All-ACC Academic team. They took second place at nationals with a time of 9:35.77. Olivia Markezich and Katie Ryan who were part of the women’s distance medley relay team also were named to the squad and earned All-American honors at Indoor National Championships.
Dylan Jacobs ran the fourth fastest indoor time in the 5K in NCAA history with a time of 13:46.80. Michael Shoaf set a new indoor record in the shot put with a mark of 18.91m at the Meyo Invitational.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
