LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Jane Kronenberger was named to the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Top 10 list Thursday afternoon. The Cincinnati-native is the third Fighting Irish softball player to earn the recognition, joining Alli Wester, (2016 Top 10) and Karley Wester (2014 Top 3).
Kronenberger earned a pair of All-Atlantic Coast Conference awards for her performance this season. She was a Second Team All-ACC honoree as a designated player, while earning a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team.
This season, Kronenberger is hitting for a .398 average, ranking second on the team and tops among freshman in the ACC. She’s hit 10 doubles three home runs and is third on the team with 28 RBI. She’s earned a .614 slugging percentage, trailing just ACC Player of the Year Karina Gaskins for the team-lead. Joining Kronenberger on the list from the ACC is Emma Lemley (Virginia Tech) and Michaela Edenfield (Florida State)
