SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Fighting Irish hosted the National Catholic Invite on Friday, Sept. 15 on the Notre Dame campus as both the men and women dominated the home event with each team taking home first.

WOMEN’S RECAP

Junior Siona Chisholm won the 5k with a first place finish time of 16:45.4, as she was followed by Erin Strzelecki. Strzelecki set a personal best in the 5k as she finished second and recorded a time of 16:49.9. Andrea Markezich took home third as she ran a 16:56.5 and set an impressive PR as she beat her previous PR by almost 40 seconds. Caroline Lehman and Claire Sievern each ran their best times as well, recording a 17:43.8 and 17:56.1 respectively.

MEN’S RECAP

The men’s team took home the top five finishes in the five mile race. Joshua Methner ran a personal best 24:04.8 to secure a first place finish 10 seconds ahead of his teammate Jake Renfree. Renfree finished with a PR of 24:14.0, followed by Robert Cozean who recorded his best time in the five mile with a 24:15.4. Tyler Berg took home fifth as he ran a 24:15.8 and he was followed by Tyler Berg, Gabe Hinrichs, and CJ Singleton, who each recorded PR’s on the day as well.
