Irish Host Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Fighting Irish track and field team hosted their first meet of the new year as they competed in the 2024 Notre Dame Invitational at the Loftus Sports Center on Saturday, Jan. 20. 

The men’s team finished with five first place performances. Blake Kusky won the weight throw (19.17m) and Michael Shoaf took first in the shot put with a throw of 18.53m.

Jack Ahart, Daelen Ackley, and CJ Singleton each set personal records with their first place finishes in their event. Ahart won the 400m with a time of 47.60, Ackley won the 800m with a time of 1:49.31, and Singleton ran a 7:53.90 in the 3000m. 

The women’s team took home eight first place finishes, as Michelle Quinn led the way by winning the 60m and 200m races and recorded a personal record with a time of 24.54 in the 200m. Jadin O’Brien won the shot put (14.79m), Olivia Fabry won the pole vault event (3.60m), and Ellis Weekley set a PR as she won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.68.

Jordyn Borsch won the 400m with a PR of 55.24, Claire Sievern took first in the 800m as she ran a 2:08.68, and Ericka VanderLende won the 3,000m with a time of 9:40.68.

The Irish are back at home on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, as they host the Meyo Invitational.
