CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After an undefeated weekend in conference play, the #2 doubles team of Nil Giraldez and Chase Thompson have been named ACC Doubles Team of the Week. The pair kicked off the weekend with a 7-5 win over Clemson Friday before routing Georgia Tech Sunday by a 6-1 score. The graduate student/freshman combo are now 7-5 on the year with all matches coming since conference play began and all at the #2 spot in the lineup. Their other wins have been against Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Northwestern and Cleveland State.
This is the first weekly ACC award for Giraldez while Thompson was named ACC Freshman of the Week in the opening week of the season back in January. Sebastian Dominko and Jean-Marc Malkowski were also named ACC Doubles Team of the Week on March 5th this season.
The men’s team has their final two regular season matches this week. On Wednesday, the Irish will host #46 Louisville at home before heading to Boston to take on Boston College on Friday.
