SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Fresh off his most productive season of college hockey, former Irish hockey forward Sutter Muzzatti has signed a two-year Entry Level Contract with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League for the 2026-27 season.
“I really found a home at Notre Dame,” said Muzzatti while reflecting on his year in South Bend. “It is truly an amazing place and I’m proud to be considered an alumni now. I am super grateful to Brock and his staff for giving me the opportunity to come to South Bend and I wish them and all my teammates the best for the future. Also, a big shout out to our wonderful support staff and all my friends from the Masters program. Go Irish.”
After spending his first three seasons at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the forward finished his collegiate career in South Bend with the Irish. Muzzatti posted a career-high 32 points off 13 goals and 19 assists last season as he was one of the team’s top offensive threats on the ice. The Okemos, Michigan, native ranked second on the team in points, goals and assists during the 2025-26 campaign.
Muzzatti posted a season-high four points with two goals and two assists on two occasions, coming in wins over Robert Morris and Ohio State. The forward posted four multi-goal performances during his senior season at Notre Dame.
Muzzatti finished his four-year college career with 82 points off 32 goals and 50 assists while appearing in 115 games.
“We are so excited for Sutter to realize a childhood dream and sign his first NHL contract,” said Catalino Family Head Hockey Coach Brock Sheahan. “Sutter came here to experience all Notre Dame has to offer and put himself in a position to sign an NHL contract. He was our most consistent player game after game last season and I know that he is ready to take his game to the next level.”
