TEMPE, Ariz. – Playing in its first outdoor match of year, the 14th-ranked Notre Dame women’ s tennis team suffered its worst loss of the year as 13th-ranked Arizona State beat the Irish 8-1. The Sun Devils won five of six singles and swept the doubles for the win. Senior All-American won at No. 2 singles for the only point for the Irish, who fall to 8-5 with the loss. Arizona State improves to 5-4. Notre Dame’ s next match will be at 23rd-ranked Kansas on Sat., March 13 at 1:00 p.m.
Hall beat Karin Palme 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for her second win of the year over Palme after also beating her at the Riviera All-American Championships in the fall. Arizona State won four singles matches in straight sets, including 64th-ranked Allison Bradshaw’ s 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over 11th-ranked Michelle Dasso at No. 1 singles. The Sun Devils also won a three-set match at No. 3 singles. Notre Dame held leads at both Nos. 1 and 2 doubles but let both slip away in 8-6 losses in addition to an 8-2 loss at No. 3 doubles.
