No. 20 Notre Dame Women's Swimming And Diving To Host A Pair Of Opponents This Weekend

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 20 University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team (1-0) will host a pair of dual meets this weekend. First is the meet against Michigan State on Friday, Nov. 10 at 4:30 p.m. and then against Pittsburgh on Saturday, Nov. 11 at noon. Both meets will be competed in the Rolfs Aquatic Center.

The Irish defeated both team’s last season. Notre Dame defeated Michigan State 156-147 on Jan. 21 a year ago and tamed Pittsburgh on Nov. 4 of last year by a margin of 138-105.

The Irish began the dual meet season with a 70-point victory against No. 25 Purdue on last weekend on Nov. 3. The Irish set two school records and a pool record, while winning 12 of the 16 events.

Senior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) set the first Irish record of the afternoon with her time of 1:48.24 in the 200-yard freestyle. The mark was also an NCAA `B’ standard and a pool record as well. Carroll also won both the 100-yard freestyle (51.06) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.93). The 200 IM time was also an NCAA `B’ standard.

Sophomore Claire Hutchinson (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) set the second Notre Dame school record of the meet in the 1,000-yard freestyle with her time of 9:52.98. The mark broke Linda Gallo’s mark set in 1998.

Next the Irish will have their first road swim of the season as Notre Dame travels to participate in the Minnesota Invitational from Nov. 17-19 in Minneapolis.
