NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame men’s and women’s golf teams have released their schedules for the 1999 fall seasons, with both squads opening their seasons on the weekend of Sept. 17-19.

The Notre Dame men will begin competition at the Air Force Falcon/Cross Creek Invitational, marking the fourth straight season that the Irish men have debuted in Colorado Springs at Eisenhower Golf Course. The tournament will feature 18 holes per day, in a Friday through Sunday format (Sept. 17-19).

The Irish men will return to action at the annual Legends of Indiana Intercollegiate, a Monday-Tuesday event to be held on Oct. 4-5 at the Legends of Indiana course in Franklin, Ind. (with 36 holes on the first day).

The Notre Dame men then will play in the Xavier Invitational for the first time since the 1993-94 season, with this fall’s event slated for a Monday-Tuesday format on Oct. 11-12 (36 holes on first day). The squad will complete its fall schedule by competing in the Louisville Invitational for the third straight season. The Monday-Tuesday event will be held Oct. 18-19 at Persimmon Ridge (18 holes each day).

The Notre Dame women also open their season on Sept. 17-19, at the annual Lady Northern Invitational (which rotates at courses throughout the Midwest). This year’s Lady Northern will be held at University Ridge Golf Course, in Madison, Wis.

The Irish women-who are entering their 12th year as a varsity program-then will return to Michigan State for the Fossum Invitational, with the Saturday-Sunday event to be held on Sept. 25-26 (36 holes on day one). The Notre Dame women will be making their 11th appearance at the MSU Invitational, with 1996-97 marking the only year that the squad did not compete in East Lansing.

The Notre Dame women will return to the state of Michigan two weekends later, for the Wolverine Invitational, Oct. 9-10 at the University of Michigan Golf Course (36 holes on the first day). The Irish women will wrap up their fall schedule at a Monday-Tuesday event, heading south for the Butler Invitational at Saddlebrook Golf Club (Oct. 18-19).
