MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team used a final-round 301 to move up to a ninth-place finish at the University of Minnesota’s PSINet Collegiate Invitational, held at the par-72, 7,118-yard Dellwood Hills Golf Club.
Notre Dame’s strong final round left the Irish with a 922 three-round total, one stroke back of Michigan State, while host Minnesota (883) rallied past Virginia Tech (885) and Purdue (891) to claim the 12-team title.
Irish junior Steve Ratay closed with a 72 for a 225 total and a share of 14th. Seniors Alex Kent (76-229) and Pat Schaffler (77-232) finished among the top 35 while freshman Peter Rivas (82-242) and sophomore Brandon Lunke (76-244) rounded out the Notre Dame contingent.
